Throwback Thursday: Tavares - Keep On

The cleanest funk jam off Tavares' 1981 LP 'Love Line.'  They got some other joints that aren't the hottest, but I can't get this one out of my head.  Become aware.

Brother Ali - Mourning in America (Video)

Rhymesayers signed rapper Brother Ali just dropped visuals for his song 'Mourning in America' off his new album 'Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color.'  Visually coo, sort of abstract version of the theme presented in Frank Ocean, Kanye West, and Jay-Z's 'No Church in the Wild.'  Peep below.

Don't Believe - Kastle & Jason Burns

Kastle & Jason Burns deliver two strong and effective club tracks with their signature soulful touch. Some might say this is a long overdue collaboration as both artists have been pushing a very similar sound. Both tracks effortlessly blend between garage inspired beats into swaying half-time beats. Druid Cloak gives "Somebody" a refresh and adds his touch for a constantly shapeshifting remix.

How To Dress Well - Cold Nights (Koreless Remix)

Peep the original.  Koreless adds a little something new.

The Blank – Burn Ft. Steffaloo

BNGR ALERT.  If it's  not there yet... the track is close. I'm sure remixes will ensue.  Henry Ashcroft, AKA The Blank, is a producer, photographer and auditory portrait creator from Perth.  Peep more by him after the jizza.

Gold Panda - Trust

Ripped off the Mary Anne Hobbs show on XFM last night.  Lusha than Eden, wizza.  I miss Gold Panda... dontchu? Hyped for that new.

Grimes - Genesis (Video)

Grimes made the track, directed the joint... and Sugarman digs Grimes.

This shit is poppin like judo warfare in a cotton candy factory in Arizona.  She has a album called Visions.

Zodiac - Come ft. Jesse Boykins III

He is the former producer for The Weeknd who, in an interview with VICE earlier this year, claimed that Abel stole his shit and ran with it to other producers.  If Jesse Boykins III sounds familiar thats because Plug Gods have been fuckin with him for more than a year.  Peep his Way of a Wayfarer EP ... it's free and he's a real talent... Abel's XO blog, featured JBIII's shit way back when too (ya mind blown huh).

Last Magpie- (Who Knows) Where Love Goes (Video)

DEEP HOUSE BRUH

This is maybe the most cliche euro house video and song ever. Hits huh...

Justice - NRJ DJ Set

Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay follow up the success of their “New Lands” single (video after the jizza), with a 2-hour mix on France’s NRJ Radio.
Track listing after the jizza

Breton - The Commission (Lapalux "Aquatic Centre Mix")

Mykki Blanco - Wavvy (Video)

Brenmar kills this shit.  This video is so dope man.  Directed by Francesco Carrozzini who is a clean ass photographer too.  He stays (like Mykki) exploring Transgender life and like... what it is to be hella proud of that steez.  He also does these screen tests/ interviews with actors in black and white. Peep after jizza.

TNGHT - Mission Statement Mix

Uncensored version of TNGHT‘s “Misson Statement” mix, which premiered on Diplo‘s BBC Radio 1 program in July.

Castratii - Eora (Album)

Castratii‘s Eora, a extra dark, shoegazey album created by an elusive trio that includes Leila Moss of The Duke Spirit.  Shit is on some extra dark...

All of Eora, after the jizza.

Delilah - Shades of Grey (Video)

Safe to say I loathe this track on Delilah's new album.  This video though... deserves your attention... so does Delilah...

Susanne Sundfør - The Silicone Veil

Susanne Sundfør, a 26 year old Norwegian acoustic-electric singer-songwriter released visuals for her song 'The Silicone Veil' a few days ago.  The song itself is almost Lana Del Rey at times (which isn't bad), but the video tells the story the song alone can't.  It's a must watch.  Enjoy.

Sunday Sleepers: Gazelle Twin - When I Was Otherwise

Slept on this Gazelle Twin video, dropped about a month back.  The visuals in this piece are hardly conventional and leave a lot of room for interpretation.  I find the whole thing oddly reminiscent of XXYYXX's About You.  Enjoy.

Shivum Sharma – Steady As We Go

Cat just turned 17.  East London.

Captain Murphy - Shake Weight

In case you aint know... Flying Lotus has become a rapper... and is calling himself Captain Murphy.   His flow is on some Madlib steez... but I'm not enormously impressed... I think he's just havin some fun.  Anyways, he goes in on the Bugg'n beat with some trip vocals. Guaranteed to get Low End play.  FlyLo also went over the Moleskin beat by Jay Electronica (featured after the jizza).

King Krule – Rock Bottom

My dog King Krule!

Groundislava - Suicide Mission ft. Baths

Baths is falsetto on da track. Haven't heard anything new from him in like two years, when he shocked the world wit his dopeness.

Piff Gang - Candy Cup

Piff Gang (@PIFFGANGUK) out of London Town. They're about 10 deep, all talented and carry the English accent which is clean to me when done right. "Candy Cup" is off their Plantlife tape that dropped back in July. Don Silk (@Milkavelli) goes in over the John Ford produced track. I'm wavy

Seven Psychopaths (Dir. by Martin McDonagh)

WARNING: I do not condone viewing the following preview:

Wana know why Colin Farrell is relevant in Hollywood after cranking out shit movie after shit movie in the 2000's... I'll give you a hint... one movie... Martin McDonagh’s 2008 film In Bruges.  McDonagh's newest joint starring Farrell, Seven Psychopaths, promises to be equally hilarious, witty, sexy and odd.   Cast game enormous: Farrell is joined by Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Abbie Cornish, Olga Kurylenko, Woody Harrelson, and Tom Waits.  Joint drops October 12, 2012.  See the trailer for In Bruges after the jizza.

Snakadaktal - Dance Bear (Ta-ku Remix)

I got bangers for you like divinity. This a couple weeks old... but has been sleepin out.
Here's the video for the original (after the jizza)

King Chip is obviously Chip Tha Ripper... the cleanest muh fucka ever out of Cleveland.

Asap Rocky - Purple Kisses

POGO - Wizard of Meh.

Video Artist/ Electronic Musician Nick Bertke, or stage name "Pogo," has done some pretty cool stuff on YouTube, but I think this new one is my favorite.

Blood Diamonds feat Grimes - Phone Sex (Jensen Sportag Remix)

This is like 4 days old and I forgot to plug it... but it's a banger.  Hella unique and Club Sportag goes in with the fury.

Astronauts, etc. - Mystery Colors

VIDEO GAME VICIOUS.  Like some lo-fi Tron shit... From Berkeley.  First single off his debut EP, Supermelodic Pulp, and each of the album’s five tracks will be accompanied by sci-fi music videos that tie them all together (tryna be Love Letters and shit). The rest of the release on September 8th.

Big Boi feat. Little Dragon - Mama Told Me (Live)

At a recent Little Dragon show they surprised their fans by bringing out Big Boi to perform 'Mama Told Me.'  Pretty rad little performance.

Yauan - Must Be Love

My ventures on the interwebz today have led me to the pleasant discovery of UK based Youan, a mysterious being who has been working on his Soundcloud game for the past year.  This track is a smooth R&B vibed post-whatever track that is a smooth, pantie-dropping effort.  Take a listen and peep the jizza for Youan's other track 'Know Your Name.'  Keep an eye on this dude too... Maybe he'll be worth the attention

Throwback Thursday: Cajmere - Percolator

That Detroit shit still bumps.  Your welcome for your new weekend party jam.

Throwback Thursday: Scarface - My Block

Face is top five all time to me.  This piano beat nostalgic and shit.

LV feat. Okmalumkoolkat - Spitting Cobra

LV is a production trio out of London with a new album due out titled Sebenza.  They released this video for their track 'Spitting Cobra' yesterday and the track is a slow synth smoker's delight.  Okmalumkoolkat, a frequent collaborator of theirs from Johannesburg provides bars that accompany the slow vibe of the track well and the simple black and white visual also feels right.  Solid track, a god's gotta reboot somewhere

Throwback Thursday - Phonte ft. Elzhi - Not Here Anymore

Not really throwback, but the big man Phonte is always mad slept on. Hook game not that proper, but let the 9th production and the verses sink in.

Throwback Thursday - Kelis - Scream (Russ Chimes Remix)

My favorite lowkey wiz Russ Chimes with the illy remix of Kelis' "Scream."

Throwback Thursday - M83 - Sister Part 2

Wizardry at its finest. Off of Digital Shades Vol. 1 which dropped back in 2007. GOODNIGHT!

Terri Walker - Matters of the Heart

This shit is poppin... She's British like the Olympics. She's sittin on hella Ski Beatz joints... but yea she jus dropped some music: "Matters of the Heart"

Peep her whole shit after the jizza... pretty coo and feel good.

Cat Power - Cherokee (Nicolas Jaar Remix)

Mr. Jaar is such a jedi, it's not even funny. Smoke hella blunts and let this one take over. Super video game realm, last level shit. He sets the tone with a lush, cathedral backdrop along with steel drums and meaningful bass. Kind of a James Bond, villainous feel to it. Give this man a red light saber!

Labyrinth Ear - Urchin

The young duo out of London has recently dropped their new single "Urchin," full of consistent bass patterns and mesmerizing, ghostly edited vocals. Hella Chromatics influenced, off top. But also paving their own route in a very positive direction among all of this futuristic, synthy pop with the dark, industrial edge to it. Yes my wizards, it is very relevant these days to be on that underground, hypnotic shit. This shit goes though. So Ryan Gosling. Check out some older Labyrinth Ear.

My Morning Jacket - Outta My System (Washed Out Remix)

My Morning Jacket released a remix EP of the song "Outta My System," earlier today. Here is Washed Out's take on the dreamy, Ocarina of Time-esque cut. Super goodnight.

The xx - Chained

Newest joint from the always wavy xx. Got to peep their show in Seattle last week where they played a handful of new tracks off the forthcoming sophomore effort Coexist. Their set was ill as fuck; hella mystical n shit. The young wizard Oliver even came through the Jacques Greene show after and was on more than a couple. Can't wait for the album out September 11th via Young Turks. Peep the 1st single Angels.

Jeremih - Late Nights (Mixtape)

Why does everyone call an RnB singer a 'crooner'. WTF is that... that word is hella weird.  I jus think of a hella old wrinkly mfucka crooning his neck to creep ona bitch. Tha tape is hosted by DJ Drama & DJ Pharris. It got features from 2 Chainz, Gucci, Fabolous, Twista, YG and E-40.  It's 18 tracks wit production by Mike Will Made It, The Futuristics, Fki, etc...
Download Jeremih's new tape HERE.

This one is the one that has been gettin radio play and is the title track:

Rapsody - Believe Me

Brand nubian from Rapsody, the proverbial First Lady of 9th Wonder's JAMLA Records. No Nicki Minajery. Of course the production is wet, but shorty can really MC. Album - The Idea of Beautiful - drops August 28th.

Aaliyah - Enough Said feat. Drake

Some new down-beat fuego from the boi Drizzy. Aaliyah here. You can hate if you want to, but you're wasting ya time.

Ango - True Blue (Prod. by Jacques Greene)

Man, this shits really future. Swear he's close to a break through. Plus, jacques Greene on the production so you know he possesses the divine ear. Ango's album just dropped. It's called Serpentine. Give it a few listens through.

Conner Youngblood - The Warpath

I plugged some shit he did before, 'Australia'... hittin as well.  Your girl would prly be on too... that dont mean hes not comin hard tho. i dono peep game civilian. Cat jus graduated from college. Delilah – From The Roots Up (Album Stream)

If you liked that last plug, you might enjoy the voiced being remixed (track 6). Production is pretty coo on this new album, From The Roots Up.  If you fuck with the Weeknd you may find some enjoyment in the North London singer/songwriter's debut, shit is heat... but less dark and the production is not as good... and it's softer and like Adele influenced or some shit:

Peep the video for "Inside My Love" after the jizza

Delilah – Inside My Love (Alby Daniels Remix)

This is clean. Kind of a new sound. Sensual. The cadence deserves your attention. Potential bedroom banger.

NEW Grizzly Bear - "Yet Again"

"Yet Again" off of Grizzly Bear's new album Shields, is yet another reason to get real excited for September. Album out Sept. 17th.

Throwback Thursday: Geeshie Wiley - Last Kind Words Blues

Kind as in 'Thank you kindly', i.e. I thank you according to custom, established order, etc.  Thus in the song Geeshie is singing about the last sane words her father ever said. There is nothing "kind" or nice in the cold instructions her father gives. After the jump I've included some commentary from an essay by John Jeremiah Sullivan.
The last kind words I heard my daddy say,
Lord, the last kind words I heard my daddy say,
If I die, if I die, in the German War,
I want you to send my money,
Send it to my mother-in-law.
If I get killed, if I get killed,
Please don't bury my soul.
I cry, just leave me out, let the buzzards eat me whole.
When you see me coming, look 'cross the rich man's field.
If I don't bring you flour,
I'll bring you bolted meal.
I went to the depot, I looked up at the sun,
Cried, "Some train don't come,
Gon' be some walking done.
My mother told me, just before she died
Lord, blessed daughter, don't you be so wild.
The Mississippi River,  you know it's deep and wide,
I can stand right here,
See my baby from the other side.
What you do to me, baby,
it never gets out of me.
I believe I'll see ya,
After I cross the deep blue sea.

Throwback Thursday: Papa Michigan and General Smiley - Diseases

Throwback Thursday Presents: Carla Bruni - La Possibilité D'une île

One of the greatest french singers of all time. Off the album Comme Si De Rien N'était (2008). She's French-Italian and used to model.  Peep pics of the badwun after the jizza.

The album artwork for G.O.O.D. Music's Cruel Summer was just released. Along with a pushed back release date from August 7th to September 4th. Still pretty excited for this one.

The Disclosure boys just released their debut EP The Face last month and they're popular.  These are remixes including one by my dude Joe Godard.  They're hella dancy but have their own sound totally. $$$
