Ka - No Downtime (Video)

Ka is an underground emcee out of Brooklyn that has been in the game for a minute and makes music for people "who miss early '90s hip hop when pain and struggle were dominant themes," according to his website.  He dropped this visual yesterday for the track "No Downtime" off of his Grief Pedigree album, and it seems to embody everything he says about himself.  Its simple and speaks to dude's realness, as he's just rhymesayin' strollin the streets of his neighborhood.  I'm not generally into this style of hip hop, but something about Ka and this video grabbed me, so have a look for yourself.

Michael Jackson - Don't Be Messin' 'Round

This previously unreleased Michael Jackson track surfaced not long ago, and will be a part of the 25th anniversary re-release of Bad.  MJ plays the piano on this one, and even though its unfinished, it is far superior to the material for 2010's Michael because its been left untouched and unedited.  This song could have been a epic jam if it had ever been finished, but even unfinished it remains as dope track from the legend.  Keep an eye out for Bad's deluxe edition re-release as it will have this song along with many other unfinished and unheard MJ tracks.  It drops on September 18.

SpaceGhostPurrp - Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp (Stream)

Everybody likes the Black God SGP.  He's real as fuck. Extra ignorant. Severely overconfident and genuinely violent. You do the math. Rolling Stone was streaming his new shit. We are too.

The Miami rapper and Raider Klan boss will release his debut LP for 4AD, Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, on June 11th in the UK and June 12th in the US.

Four Tet - 128 Harps

My boy Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, has been staying pretty busy this year with a few releases and just yesterday he dropped this track, "128 Harps."  The sound and vibe on this one isn't what I'm accustomed to hearing from Four Tet, but he works it out nonetheless, creating beautiful track that still has plenty of bounce to it.

The Seshen - Oblivion (Video)

San Francisco's own The Seshen released this video for their standout track "Oblivion," which comes off of their self-titled debut album that dropped back in February.  They've got a crazy cool sound that is pretty incomparable, and this visual might be the best I've seen this year.  If you like what you hear, stream their album after the jump.

Lil Silva - What Son

Lil Silva has a release on Night Slugs due out at the end of this month and a collaboration with Jamie Woon in the works. What Son will have to tide you over, with a taste of what's to come, until then.  

I've included Lil Silva's Patience EP that dropped last year to give the complete spectrum of his career.  Divine grace has revealed the UK producer before: Gobble That.

Baio - Sunburn Modern EP

Baio (aka Chris Baio, bassist for Vampire Weekend) released his debut solo EP a few weeks back on Greco-Roman. 

Paradis - Je m'ennuie

The new video from Paradis is a montage taken from a variety of films.  The cinematography can be attributed to Alain Resnais ("Je t'aime, je t'aime" 1968, "Le Chant du styrène" 1958) and Alain Robbe-Grillet ("L'Eden et après" 1970, "N. a pris les dés" 1971).

Last one was a classic. Undisputed... you can call it timely or timeless... but at this point it was one of the hardest works of music to come out in the last two years. You could argue against that, but I would smite you hella quick.
I wonder if dude got this cover off some marble company's website too (his last cover looked similar and he picked it the night before he dropped the tape). Clams doesnt give two fucks either... which makes mfuckaz more appealing sometimes.  Despite having some of the most epic beats in the game, he is remarkably unpretentious. Drink it in little civilian.

Bill Evans Trio - Gloria's Step

Lazy Sunday afternoon Jazz.  A late night meeting of the Gods inspired this one. Hadn't dug into my Bill Evans collection in a long time. Enjoy. Hit the jump for an interview wherein Evans talks about the place of Jazz in history and asserts that Jazz is a certain creative process as opposed to a style. Jazz, he notes, captures the necessary spontaneity that any composition must have.

Fantastic Mr Fox - Pascal's Chorus feat. Alby Daniels

Off the upcoming San'en EP.  Fantastic Mr Fox, Stephen Gomberg, enlists label-mate Alby Daniels to add vocals to an assimilation of 'skin-thumping 4/4 kicks swinging under chewy, retarded synths that descend into a pent up, subby robo cataclysm.' Yeah. Check it out.
