Antwon - Living Every Dream

Nostalgia video from San Jose's Antwon. Not sure how much of this is a gimmick.  Check out an earlier video for his song Helicopter after the jump. Here is Spin magazine's description of the video for Helicopter:

The video for San Jose rapper Antwon's "Helicopter"...intercuts footage from the 1968 Steve McQueen tough guy car chase movie Bullitt, and dreamy, slo-mo footage of Olde English malt liquor, with Antwon wandering around, munching on a massive plate of food (as much Sriracha is consumed in the video as Old Gold, it seems), and chilling out with friends, including Squadda B and Mondre M.A.N. of Main Attrakionz.

This one made me cry with joy, because God is good. The song is "La Noyee" by Carla Bruni.

Awesome film by art school grads Eran May-raz and Daniel Lazo. Digging this.

Airbird - Free Mind

The Mariah Carey sampled "Free Mind" is definitely a flame thrower club jam, ready for cats to get nasty and showcase their dopest, disco influenced dance moves. Ford & Lopatin's young robot, Joel Ford aka Airbird is finna drop his 2nd solo EP titled Romance Layers, where this cut will surely be the centerpiece. The last 90 seconds or so fizzle out, but it's honestly whatever. It's the comedown. Got me feeling like its 1986 @the club in Scarface, dancing my ass off, wearing white pants.

Blood Diamonds ft. Grimes - Phone Sex (Unicorn Kid Remix)

The 20 year old wiz out of Scotland has transformed the original (not that dope IMO) into an all smiles, dance club joint with frequent drops and the haunting, piercing vocals of the always based Grimes. This shit is hella positive and on steroids.

How To Dress Well - Cold Nites

"Cold Nites" is the 2nd hypnotic single dropped off the ghostly wizard's new album Total Loss, out September 17th. This new material from HTDW is on some epic, lowkey progressive, floating through the clouds shit that will keep even the most civilian listeners very intrigued and wanting more. That's that shit I do like.

Snoop Lion - La La La (feat. Jovi Rockwell) (prod. Major Lazer)

Snoop Dogg's getting super irie with this shit.  Under alias Snoop Lion, he's released this reggae track from his forthcoming Reincarnation.  Snoop certainly smokes enough weed to be among the Rastafarians, so the musical transition isn't quite so shocking, but its still cool to hear Snoop change it up with a new sound.

The Master (Dir. by Paul Thomas Anderson)

I wanted to talk more about films on Plug Gods when I first put this together.  I studied it in school and narrative film might be my greatest passion.  Any cinephile's ears perk at the mention of writer/director 'PTA'.  I am no exception.  He is a bona fide master of film making, and undoubtedly the greatest living filmmaker when it comes to sound design.  He wrote and directed: "Boogie Nights" (1997), "Magnolia" (1999), "Punch Drunk Love" (2002), "There Will Be Blood" (2007) and now we await... "The Master".  Each and every one of the aforementioned flicks is brilliant.  Disagree with me.  Go ahead.  I'll smite you before the end of the opening shot of "Boogie Nights". "The Master" is rumored to be a thinly veiled look at the life of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.  However, Philip Seymour Hoffman (who plays the leading role of Lancaster Dodd) denies that the film is about Scientology.  PTA's last film, "There Will Be Blood" examined religious fanaticism as well.  The film also stars Amy Adams as Dodd's wife, Mary Sue (L. Ron Hubbard's wife bore the same name) and controversial actor (previously turned rapper) Joaquin Phoenix.  The film, for the most part has been very hush hush. But we got this shit in late May...

Then in June...

Now... As with "There Will Be Blood," Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood penned the score.  Anderson's joint is out in theaters on Oct. 12, and I have not been this excited for a film... well, ever.
