Tamra Davis has directed two of the funniest movies in film history: Half Baked and Billy Madison.  She's worked with some of the biggest personalities in Hollywood.  That's why I was utterly stunned by Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child.  I'll admit I knew very little about the artist, except that he was friends with Andy Warhol.  The documentary charts his development as an artist, from his bohemian beginnings in conceptual graffiti to his band "Gray" to the height of his fame.  Trane rattled it off as the best documentary.  It is top notch hoe.  Good trailer too.  Go ahead, watch that shit civilian.

D33J mix for LFTF

Met this dude D33J while at an off-Sonar rooftop party in Barcelona earlier this summer by chance. We got to talkin', and he explained to me how he grew up in LA, went to Hamilton High School (alongside underground rap legends Double K of People Under The Stairs, Scarub, Eligh, and Murs, among others) then shipped out to SF. He's been living in Hamburg, Germany for the last six or so months and is scheduled to return stateside just in time for the Tri-Angle label showcase in the city. Close-knit ties with Shlohmo and other WeDidIt homies makes this guy a sure bet, scope out his first mix and interview (for the LFTF blog).
