Recorded in 1979 at Phonogram's Studio in Lagos - originally released on Shanu Olu Records. [ Grandstar, GSLP (LP) 1012 Nigeria 1979 ]... Tony Allen is maybe the greatest drummer of the 20th century. So hopefully you've heard some stuff by him.  He was born in Nigeria in 1940 and rose to fame as Fela Kuti's drummer and creative director in the late 60s and 70s.  Fela said once that "without Tony Allen there would be no afrobeat".
