JESSE FUTERMAN – EXQUISITE BASEMENT EP

Everything you hear, with the exception of Jon Foster’s drums on the last song, is 100% samples – whether it be film, music or even some clips from old sci fi radio shows.  Track 5 disappear is exceptional.  All of it has a jazzy, lounge influence.

Dillon Cooper - State of Elevation

In spite of the off-putting 'Golden Era' overtunes - which is a type of nostalgia that prevents any growth in hip-hop in the name of preserving 'tradition' - Dillon Cooper, who attended Berklee College of Music via Jay-Z scholarship, displays his evident dexterity and nuances the Golden Era sound enough (1.31-150) to make this a compelling listen.  Nonetheless, you can't help but wonder what his talent would sound like applied to more progressive beat choice.

Adapt - Atlántico

Barcelona-based Adapt released his album, Atlántico, on the Spanish record label, Avant Records.  Of the release AR writes,
Atlantico is a kaleidoscope, an encyclopedia of electronics of the last 10 years, reflected by the filter of a musical brain that also knows when to improvise and use intuition: dubstep, idm, garage, house, techno, r & b, vocal tracks …everything fits into the recipe without any ingredient predominating over the rest.
Atlantico is by all means proving to be one of the most exciting and necessary electronic music surprises in Spain today.
Xl8r did a feature Rokcr Broth a few days back, which you can stream below.  See the rest of the album via spotify after the jump.

Rockie Fresh - God is Great

Supplicants to the throne. Toast to the young gods. Boi-1da on the beat.

Petite Noir - Noirse (Pional Remix)

This one has been growing on me for the past few days.  It's something I've come back to.  Pional of Talabot affiliation gives South Africa’s Petite Noir's latest single - which you can see after the jump -  a retouching that recasts pained crooning and indie cord progressions into a lush dance grooves tattooed with by Pional's steady hand.

Tâches - Hide From You featuring Jessica Sophie

London-town bass tunes from Tâches.

Act like you knew and grab the download:

Flume - Holdin On (Kaytranada Edit)

First spotted on his LA boiler room set which you can see after the jump.  If you missed his edit of Janet's If, which is the second track in the boiler room mix, I've included it after the jump as well. Gift giver.

Cloud Boat - Book of Hours/Hammerspace

The London duo received much praise from Dummy for its new release, Book of Hours:
With the temporal “post-” label stuck to it, the inherently ephemeral post-dubstep feels like a dated genre to be discussing in 2013. Just when you think there’s no more blubstep to be had, though, Cloud Boat have shown that not only can it still be imaginative, but that it can make itself timeless by engulfing emotionally resonant genres like folk and soul. By starting out with the solid songwriting craft and powerful narratives typical of these genres, and then chipping at those foundations until they’re distorted enough to create something entirely new, the duo have reinvigorated the “working by subtraction” formula and found a way to make it sound more full than empty. Reduced to its elements, ‘Book Of Hours’ is a record that bares its soul, and not only that, but reveals a soul so dense and thoughtful you could stare into it for hours.
However, one of my favorite tracks is one not included on the album, Hammerspace, which seems to deny some of the minimalist aesthetic in favor of a flurry of passion that crescendos in anguish.

Neeon - Neeonovum

Germany's Neeon has released his electro-pop-fused debut for free and to some high, while not yet pervasive, praise:
Just in time for the summer, Neeon made the French touched electronic pop album that a lot of people were expecting from Daft Punk.
