Disclosure - Control (Video)

You've heard this, but you haven't seen the vid. Simple concept but executed really well. Has pace. THIS IS DISCLOSURE'S FIRST EVER VIDEO.  Da track features the vocal talents of budding newcomer Ria Ritchie.

Lupe Fiasco - Bitch Bad

Mk so I guess Lupe is officially back and not making studio enforced bullshit.  He's back to real shit. Plus his track on the X games commercial is clean up. Yea, he must be back.  Uh... Lupe's got wisdom for you... listen up...

Groundislava and Clive Tanaka - TV Dream

Huge Tune.  Think that kitschy, dreamy, Drive steez that the year has embraced... but with clean ass percussion and like youre slightly cross faded and cant see that good but youre feelin yourself and you jus grabbed a 42 year old booty but still kinda liked it. THATS WHAT THIS TRACK IS LIKE.  Groundislava also dropped this track a few days ago:

Also feels good.

Reilly Steel - Post-Pillow Talk, Vol. 1 (EP)

These tracks are “sort of a reflection of where I’ve been going lately, a bit deeper.” says Steel.  Shouts to B Free over at LiveForTheFunk.com for the plug.  That bass will knock. AND THEN THERE WAS HOUSE.  Free Download civilian.

Eprom - Metahuman (LP)

This is the first track off Eprom's new album:

Listen to the whole album doe!
It's crazy... hella future. Trap influence. Ocean floor influence. Machines. Fur.

Mungolian Jetset - Toccata

Free Download. A song that builds. It's basically some psychedelic disco in this bitch. August 21 is da release of Mungolian Jetset's upcoming album Mungodelics.  These guys like make up fantasy worlds and shit to go with their music. And they're from Norway so it makes sense.  And if you ain't know, this is a rework of some Jaga Jazzist (peep after the jizza)

Beat Connection - Lotus Blossom

Don't these cats go to UW or some shit? Four dudes... somewhat comical when you think about how minimal their beats are. Like damn, all you guys hadda get together to make that? Naw I'm playin, it's clean. They clean. This is a B-side to their single, The Palace Garden, 4AM (after the jizza), which is hella more dance-y. The single is out next week, but the ALBUM, The Palace Garden drops on the later date of 6 August, both out on Tender Age.

I swear these cats kick it with Deeny Beats...

Harmonimix - Confidence Boost

James Blake is young stealth.  This shit slipped out in early May.  I heard it then but didn't think much of it, nor did I believe it was by him.

It turns out Harmonimix IS ACTUALLY James Blake.  This was made in 2010 apparently, and is reminiscent of that Wayne A Milli Cover he did (listen after the jizza), but sounds unmastered in comparison.  Blake will be releasing this track later this year on R&S.  I betchu it sounds better then...

Calvin Harris - Let's Go (Official Video)

Some beautiful shots in here. I fuck with the collection and range of perspectives, as well as the relevant display of youthful energy. Directed by Vincent Haycock. The track isn't that hot to me though. Aside from the closing statement, the track is generic and predictable. The composition was well crafted, but not pushing any boundaries. Save that shit for Rihanna.

Throwback Thursday: Winter - Paris Jones feat. April Kelly

Dope story about a triflin’ lil’ cutie and her apparent skills on the “mic”. Paris Jones w/ the blessing.

Strip Steve - Astral Projection feat. Puro Instinct

Strip Steve is jiving with divinity. He will release his debut album, 'Micro Mega', via Berlin label Boys Noize records on July 16.

Sigur Rós - Fjögur píanó

This shit blew my mind. Lastest piece of Mystery Film Experiment, Ros' six album. He linked with Alma Har’el to create this eight and a half minute multimensional butterfly... Love Letters-esque....

Jessie Ware - Wildest Moments

The emerging South London singer/songwriter took to her twitter to release the newest cut off of Devotion out August 13th. With "Wildest Moments," she is gettin her lil pop anthem, i miss you BS out of the way. Clearly, Leona Lewis-esque. Don't get me wrong, shit is still crispy. She did not pair up with her usual PIC Julio Bashmore for this track but instead with Dave Okumo from The Invisible, who put forth production on a handful of songs off her debut LP. Tracklist below. Enjoy Jesse Ware - Devotion (Tracklist) 01. Devotion 02. Wildest Moments 03. Running 04. Still Love Me 05. No To Love 06. Night Light 07. Swan Song 08. Sweet Talk 09. 110% 10. Taking In Water 11. Something Inside

Poolside - Slow Down

The breezy, summertime joint from LA duo Poolside. This is the first single off of Pacific Standard Time out July 9th. A little codeine influenced, disco shit to ride around to when the weather permits.

Network (Sidney Lumet - 1976)

Throwback Thursday Presents...
Watch this film at least a few times a year to promote a balanced and cognizant mind. Simply three of greatest scene's in the history of modern cinema. Recently psychotic news anchor Howard Beale shares his radical thoughts with the live studio audience, until finally, he meets his maker. This stirring look at media sensationalism is 30 years ahead of it's time. Absolute GZA. "The world is a business, Mr Beale. It has been since Man crawled out of the slime. Easily could've added 5 or 6 more clips to this post, as Sidney Lumet's Network is beyond classic. If you've never seen it, stop slippin'.

Gacha - Bowl (Video)

Off Apollo Records, this joint drops officially on July 2nd. But fuck B... the VIDEO. It reminds me of the movie Dogtooth (that scene near the end when the daughters are doin those goofy ass dances, but it's hella haunting).  The choreographed dances, tho sometimes conventionally hokey... are executed with the utmost seriousness. You wana call it cute but... it's kinda hard. Press play civilian.
Video by Anna Kobakhidze. See more from her after the jizza (she's a clown).

Mmoths - Folding

This Irish producer Mmoths just dropped this joint 'Folding' and this shit is dope.  Its has an ambient vibe to it, but still goes hard with a deep throbbing bass that is infectious to me.  If you find yourself keen on this cat, you can catch him at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco tonight, where he'll be performing live.

Also, if you want more from Mmoths, you can peep the video for his single 'Heart' after the jizza.

Throwback Thursday: Angie Stone - Love Junkie

Another neo-soul jam, this one coming from back in 1999, off of Angie Stone's Black Diamond.  The real question is, where has she been since?

Emily Wells - Mama's Gonna Give You Love (Video)

Wells is a singer-songwriter based out of New York that recently released an album titled Mama.  Her work is super impressive, crossing many different genres to achieve a unique and soulful sound that has many elements of folk and an acoustic vibe at times.  She released this video for the standout track from Mama, and it showcases her ability, performing all of her loops live and then singing over them.  Have a listen below and if you like what you hear, go and cop that Mama shit and I assure you, you won't be disappointed

Emily Wells - Mama's Gonna Give You Love from LaundroMatinee on Vimeo.

Throwback Thursday: Roy Ayers - We Live In Brooklyn Baby

I'm feelin that soul today. This classic Roy Ayers track has been fitting the bill so far.  Funny thing about this track is that Roy Ayers never lived in Brooklyn, but Brooklyn is Dutch for "Broken Land" which is what the Native Americans called this land when it was being settled.  Roy's got that consciousness on deck.

Throwback Thursday: Massive Attack feat. Hope Sandoval - Paradise Circus (Gui Boratto Remix)

The original is beautiful. But this is more than worthy of admiration.

Knxwledge - karma.loops.prt3

This guy makes thick beats from mo-town/jazz record samples... if you ain't know.  Doc loves him.

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Charli XCX - Heartbreaks And Earthquakes (Mixtape)

She's British, painfully sexy and makes some hard ass tracks. Come fuck wit me. Free Download.

The tape is eight tracks in length and features Charli's version of Drake and Jai Paul's "Dreams Money Can Buy" as well as a remix of "You're the One" (Original plugged after the Jizza) conducted by Odd Future's the Internet and Mike G.

oOoOO - 333

This is some hard shit. Skip it if youre soft or feelin especially emotional.  oOooOO always on that dark.  Mmm let the bass knock you back.  Fuck you if you dono who the rappers are. You don't deserve to know.

Get People - Grove

Free download.  Their EP, Harmonize now out. None of you were on this.  Never front on divinity.

Joey Bada$$ - 1999 (Mixtape)

No gimmicks here for the 17-year-old hailing from Brooklyn .  He shows a good ear picking out beats from some quality producers (although not original productions).  Of course I'm gravitating towards that Knxwledge track. Hit the jump for his attention grabbing verse on the video for track 3, 'Survival Tactics', with Capital Steez.

Tracklist after...

Koreless - Lost in Tokyo (preview)

Shout out to Liveforthefunk for this one.  Remember that Jamie XX mix? Well the Koreless track, Lost in Tokyo, that Jamie XX played is finally set to see daylight on Jacques Greene's label.  Word is Greene will provide a remix to the single as well. Reacquaint yourself with the full song proper via radio rip after the jump.

Jim-E Stack - Bubble Boy

Radio rip for now folks. Jim-E Stack's "Bubble Boy” will be available worldwide on July 3rd via  LA label Body High.  'Till then.

J Dilla - Detroit Game feat. Chuck Inglish and Boldy James

I'm not one for the bodysnatching-seance record as I think it is nothing more than a way to scrape the remaining profit from the skin of the the dead.  And yet, Chuck sounds surprisingly good on this Dilla record.  It is an attention to the aesthetic that the producer put forth instead of posthumously bastardizing the original, that makes the post-life record.

TNGHT - TNGHT EP (Preview)

Hudson Mowake and Lunice's collaborative effort TNGHT has been getting tons of attention with their track Bugg'n getting tons of playtime from all kinds of DJs all over the place.  The self titled EP will be released on LuckyMe and Warp Records on July 23rd, with the stateside release coming the next day.  TNGHT has released the preview below which has confirmed what I already suspected, that this is not a project to get caught sleeping on.  There's a high likelihood that this will be one of the best releases of this year.  So have a listen and keep an eye out for TNGHT.

Action Bronson & Party Supplies - Steve Wynn

New Bronsolinho & Party Supplies video from the Blue Chips project, directed by Rik Cordero. So clownin'! Fam smacks a few bath salts then goes Hulkamania, I love it ha.

Rejjie Snow - Meddling Loops (Video)

For the enjoyment of the God's, a stupid fresh vid from Irish rapper Rejjie Snow. Joining him are friends, Crave & Jesse James, with production by draneL.

The Districts - Funeral Beds

These teenagers show some promise. From Pennsylvania, these guys really know how to rock out (wait for it to pick up).

Submerse - Pressure

Tokyo-based producer Submerse will drop his Tears EP via Berlin record label Project Mooncircle on June 29 and has released 'Pressure' as an anticipatory single.  I've included a sampler of the Project Mooncricle release below and his recent release on Apollo records after the jump.

Previous grace: This Time You're Not Wrong

Azizi Gibson & SB Wise - Angels with Filthy Souls (video)

New video from the Brainfeeder spitta. Check the older Jeremiah Jae produced Fish Scale after the jump.

Unmap - Etude No.3 (Waiting)

Unmap, out of New Zealand, offers this R&B tinged electronic piece.  More information to come.

Holy Other - Love Some1

'Till we all got triangles on our wall.
Holy Other released a new track in preparation for for his début album, Held, which is due out August 28th on Tri Angle.  I'm not that taken by this song in particular but that is not to say I think the album will not be interesting.  Take this as an announcement and as a sample of things to come.

"Get By" - Delta Heavy

DELTA HEAVY - 'Get By' (official video) from Ian Robertson.

Peace 2da Gods! Delta Heavy goes hard w/ the breaks. No joke, make sure this is max volume. Take it in scene by scene hurdd. Easily one of the more playful & creative joints I've watched this year, check how my son laced you w/ the Hanzo tho.. stuueeyy!

Bangers. Pump it loud or don't press play.

Feel Good Lost Films x Sun Glitters - "High"

Twilight zone vid foreal tho..hella trippy. Directed, shot, and edited by Brenden Canty for Feel Good Lost. Low budget, but well executed. Touch the sky wit'a God fer'dis one.

Cooly G - Come Into My Room

She's got my mind wandering.  With drums few and far between, this track is begging for a remix

G.O.O.D Music - Mercy (video)

Yeah, yeah, you know it. Super clean vid from the boys @ G.O.O.D MusicHot shxt cuzzin.

Frank Ocean - Pyramids

This man is getting so loose on this track!  He shouts me out at 3:00 min too btw.
John Mayer co-wrote this and does the solo at the end! Absurdity.

Additionally, just hours ago, Franky Ocean announced his new album Channel Orange.  Drops 7/7/12.  The trailer for it:

channel orange-TV from christopher francis ocean on Vimeo.

"Rabbit Food" - One Be Lo

Prolly one'a my favorite 'Lo joints. Ill beat, solid concept, market time w/ the seeds. Respec!

CocoRosie - We Are On Fire (video)

This is the new single from Parisian sister duo CocoRosie.  The song has a dark occult feel to it which the video mirrors well.

The Piano Teacher (La Pianiste) [Michael Haneke]

Throwback Thursday civilian!
Doc's post about the upcoming Michale Haneke joint, Amour inspired me to revisit the visionary director's classic, The Piano Teacher:

It's on some dark shit, the music is beautiful, it's real freaky... maybe too freaky for some. It's kind of on some Steve McQueen, Shame shit.  Hella long shots. Incredible acting. Lebron.
Unfortunately I don't have a plug to this joint but it's streaming on Netflix, so peep game if you are so privileged.

Beta Frontiers - Hondo (Phèdre Remix)

Phrede touch the Beta Frontiers' Hondo sending the original into a distorted haze.  If you haven't already, check out Phedre's Bacchanal video for In Decay.

Throwback Thursday - Clipse - Ride Around Shining

Hook game proper, Verses go in. Shout to the Neptunes. A young god's anthem.

Blouse - They Always Fly Away (Room 205 Session)

Based out of Portland, these cats have been on my radar ever since they dropped their self titled EP back in November. The catchy bass lines and wavy synths got a god hooked! With the Capitol Hill Block Party lineup being so stacked this year, this is my pick for sneakiest dope show of the weekend (July 22nd @ the Neumos Stage). Everything is so effortless with lead vocalist Alison Mosshart and the band's moody persona is definitely on some super lowkey. Don't get it twisted though; shit is clean. Peep some more Blouse here.

Balam Acab - Ass Pop

The bedroom beatmaker out of Pennsylvania recently dropped "Ass Pop," a fast paced A$AP Rocky-esque joint that is just waiting for someone to throw down their illest verse on. Very different from his usual mastered nature sounds and hypnotic ambience that we peeped on Wonder/Wander. Despite being only a couple minutes, it is still very enjoyable and could be a nice lil mix in on your next DJ Set. It's got that lowkey ignorant feel and it is honestly titled appropriately. Nerds can be gods too bruh!!

Grizzly Bear - Sleeping Ute

Grizzly Bear announced their new album, set to release September 17/18.

Paradis - Hémisphère

The last Paradis (see their website here) video I posted has been fairly popular so I thought I'd post the video of the A-side of their recent single and give the Parisian duo's single a proper introduction.   Here is what the groups label had to say about the recent Je m'ennui/Hémisphère release:
On the two tracks of their second 12", Paradis self-reflect to find an escape hatch away from themselves. The A-Side, "Hémisphère", a macabre story of a lonely guest of life determined to leave everything behind, defies the narrative's convention and captivates with pop melodies and up beats abound. On the B-Side, "Je M'ennuie", lovers settle into late-night melancholic routines soundtracked by a brooding bass line, an achingly affective synth lead, and vocals that grin behind the disaffected front. Ultimately, hope prevails as both tracks beg the listener to leave their headphones behind for the global village's dance floor. From Paris to Cologne, from Buenos Aires to New York, in the words of Michel Polnareff, "On ira tous au Paradis."
I've included their début release after the jump.

Ka - No Downtime (Video)

Ka is an underground emcee out of Brooklyn that has been in the game for a minute and makes music for people "who miss early '90s hip hop when pain and struggle were dominant themes," according to his website.  He dropped this visual yesterday for the track "No Downtime" off of his Grief Pedigree album, and it seems to embody everything he says about himself.  Its simple and speaks to dude's realness, as he's just rhymesayin' strollin the streets of his neighborhood.  I'm not generally into this style of hip hop, but something about Ka and this video grabbed me, so have a look for yourself.

Michael Jackson - Don't Be Messin' 'Round

This previously unreleased Michael Jackson track surfaced not long ago, and will be a part of the 25th anniversary re-release of Bad.  MJ plays the piano on this one, and even though its unfinished, it is far superior to the material for 2010's Michael because its been left untouched and unedited.  This song could have been a epic jam if it had ever been finished, but even unfinished it remains as dope track from the legend.  Keep an eye out for Bad's deluxe edition re-release as it will have this song along with many other unfinished and unheard MJ tracks.  It drops on September 18.

SpaceGhostPurrp - Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp (Stream)

Everybody likes the Black God SGP.  He's real as fuck. Extra ignorant. Severely overconfident and genuinely violent. You do the math. Rolling Stone was streaming his new shit. We are too.
The Miami rapper and Raider Klan boss will release his debut LP for 4AD, Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, on June 11th in the UK and June 12th in the US.

Four Tet - 128 Harps

My boy Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, has been staying pretty busy this year with a few releases and just yesterday he dropped this track, "128 Harps."  The sound and vibe on this one isn't what I'm accustomed to hearing from Four Tet, but he works it out nonetheless, creating beautiful track that still has plenty of bounce to it.

The Seshen - Oblivion (Video)

San Francisco's own The Seshen released this video for their standout track "Oblivion," which comes off of their self-titled debut album that dropped back in February.  They've got a crazy cool sound that is pretty incomparable, and this visual might be the best I've seen this year.  If you like what you hear, stream their album after the jump.

Lil Silva - What Son

Lil Silva has a release on Night Slugs due out at the end of this month and a collaboration with Jamie Woon in the works. What Son will have to tide you over, with a taste of what's to come, until then.

I've included Lil Silva's Patience EP that dropped last year to give the complete spectrum of his career.  Divine grace has revealed the UK producer before: Gobble That.

Baio - Sunburn Modern EP

Baio (aka Chris Baio, bassist for Vampire Weekend) released his debut solo EP a few weeks back on Greco-Roman.

Paradis - Je m'ennuie

The new video from Paradis is a montage taken from a variety of films.  The cinematography can be attributed to Alain Resnais ("Je t'aime, je t'aime" 1968, "Le Chant du styrène" 1958) and Alain Robbe-Grillet ("L'Eden et après" 1970, "N. a pris les dés" 1971).

The Mast - UpUpUp

Official Video ft. Pandora Marie
Here's the whole EP plus some remixes yung hoe:

A$AP Rocky Feat. ScHoolboy Q - Brand New Guy

The visuals to my favorite track off Rocky's Live.Love.A$AP. Bang!

Clams Casino - Instrumental Mixtape 2

THAT NEW CLAMS!
Last one was a classic. Undisputed... you can call it timely or timeless... but at this point it was one of the hardest works of music to come out in the last two years. You could argue against that, but I would smite you hella quick.
I wonder if dude got this cover off some marble company's website too (his last cover looked similar and he picked it the night before he dropped the tape). Clams doesnt give two fucks either... which makes mfuckaz more appealing sometimes.  Despite having some of the most epic beats in the game, he is remarkably unpretentious. Drink it in little civilian.
Download

Also if you dont have the first one you can download it HERE... but don't tell anyone if that's the case.

Bill Evans Trio - Gloria's Step

Lazy Sunday afternoon Jazz.  A late night meeting of the Gods inspired this one. Hadn't dug into my Bill Evans collection in a long time. Enjoy. Hit the jump for an interview wherein Evans talks about the place of Jazz in history and asserts that Jazz is a certain creative process as opposed to a style. Jazz, he notes, captures the necessary spontaneity that any composition must have.

Fantastic Mr Fox - Pascal's Chorus feat. Alby Daniels

Off the upcoming San'en EP.  Fantastic Mr Fox, Stephen Gomberg, enlists label-mate Alby Daniels to add vocals to an assimilation of 'skin-thumping 4/4 kicks swinging under chewy, retarded synths that descend into a pent up, subby robo cataclysm.' Yeah. Check it out.
Previous: Alby Daniels - This Dawn

Hit the jump for Fantastic Mr Fox's older material.
