Blouse - Ghost Dream (Video)

The "Ghost Dream" video just dropped for the Portland based dream pop trio off of their self titled album released back in Novemeber of 2011. Check these cats out. Very Beach House-esque, but with a vibrating pulse. Watch the video.

Evy Jane - Sayso (Video)

Vancouver electronic duo Evy Jane's official visuals for "Sayso" from their self titled EP. R&B influenced, with a consistency of slowed drums and hazy codeine infused vocals. Listen to a super clean Julien Mier remix of this joint here.

Sina Makossa Remix - Uproot Andy & Chief Boima

Feelin' tropical? you better be....

Sina Makossa Remix - Uproot Andy & Chief Boima by Uproot Andy

Uproot Andy is something of a legend within the Tropicalia scene, especially in NYC. Add in Chief Boima, one of his DuttyArtz co-founders and you have an insatiable dance tune. Champeta is a musical genre coming out of Afro-Colombian communities on the pacific coast of Colombia, most specifically Cartagena. Its beautiful sun drenched music.

And here's a pretty tight remix by Chief Boima to satiate your post-Carnival blues.

Ambassadeurs - Duke Red

Mark Dobson of Brighton a.k.a.  Ambassadeurs.  He dropped this video for his track "M.O.P.E.", last week:

CSLSX / I Break Horses - Violent Sea (Video)

First of all, who is CSLSX? These cats are honestly straight Casper with their undecipherable acronym and empty bio page. The rumor is they are a "collective" group of wizards from the US to the UK who come together to create these type of dreamy electro infused pop anthems that have you thinking about the most dope times. For now, CSLSX has teamed up with Swedish duo I Break Horses to drop "Violent Sea" accompanied with these ghostly visuals. Peep their handful of feel good joints here. Looking forward to more cuts like these. WETNESS ALL AROUND ME.

Fort Romeau - Say Something

La Roux keyboardist Mike Norris will be releasing Kingdoms via 100% Silk. "Say Something" is a smooth house joint with an airy, summer breeze feel to it. Turn this up and dance your little faces off!

ELOS - My 23rd

ELOS is another Low End Theory inspired L.A. beat maker on the rise.  In the past week, he has released four new tracks on his SoundCloud including "My 23rd" in honor of his birthday.  His first full length album is set to drop on Alpha Pup in March.  Stream his 2011 Dang EP below.

Rhye- Open (Video)

The Los Angeles based Rhye released this video for their single 'Open' a few weeks back and has stirred a small blogging frenzy of trying to figure out the identity of the enigmatic duo.  The track is a sensually vocalized and beautifully instrumented piece that really has a sincerity about it that's undeniable.  The video complements perfectly with its soft-core images and intimate vibe.  With a full LP on the way, be sure to stay tuned for more Rhye very soon.

Dot- Calliope EP

Alpha Pup Record's Dot released her debut EP Calliope today and it is a wildly unique take on the down-tempo and experimental side electronic music.  The opening title track is sounds like an acid tripping, maniacal carousel ride and really sets the tone for the whole EP which is littered with such fresh sounds.  Being one of only a few female players in the down-tempo/experimental game, Dot really makes a name for herself with this EP and being only 20 years old, she seems destined to become a force to be reckoned with in the not-so distant future.

Here are two tracks from Calliope, the first being 'Desert Storm,' a track that certainly carries weight as a glitchy and beat driven monster, and the second is the aforementioned title track 'Calliope.'

Hodgy Beats - Untitled EP

Talk about some exciting production.  Start to finish.  Its refreshing to hear the OF member on something different (not that Leftbrain's production isn't innovative).  If you have a limited amount of time, I suggest skipping down to the Jonti produced track (personal bias, the Flylo and Alchemist tracks are equally impressive).

xxyyxx - LUV U GRL

You pronounce my 16 year old homie's name  xxyyxx like "why" or "y"... jus so you dont make a fool of yourself when pluggin somebody with this. I've been fuckin with this dude for a minute.  My fav track is "Closer".  A rapper needs to eat that beat by the way... Anyways... yea this dropped 12 minutes ago. @PlugGods   ... here's the rest of the Ruddyp Split EP:

Alby Daniels - This Dawn

Not from the 'nati but threw on the Bengals
Plugged another track from this a while back.  The project has been out for about a week now.  It is definitely worth the listen.  You can buy the whole album here.

Jonwayne - ElecTricity

Jonwayne is a part of the so called second generation of L.A.'s beat scene.  People tend to name drop him in the same breath as other young producers like Shlohmo and Baths, but his beats are definitely more hip-hop oriented. His new 48 track double album Oodles of Doodles (21 tracks are rereleases from his 2010 beat tape, Doodles) dropped today on Stone Throw's Drip.fm page, but you need a monthly account to get access, which I am not about to buy.  Until it drops for real, check out 'ElecTricity.'

Gold Panda - Thailand Chord Droner

New track from Gold Panda.  No information on any forthcoming release, but hopefully this is a sign that something is coming.

Logic - The Spotlight

Logic's second single off his upcoming project (yet to be named, dropping in the Spring), with the all too familiar Justice beat, gets the visual treatment. If you're still sleeping, play catch-up. If you're down, pick up his last project. Extra video after the jump.

Willis Earl Beal- Evening Kiss (Video)

Willis Earl Beal 'Evening Kiss' from forever on Vimeo.

Willis Earl Beard is a unique talent out of Chicago who released this video for his first single 'Evening Kiss' a few days ago.  His soulful vocals accompanied by the light guitar are matched perfectly by animator Michael Zauner's black and white drawings, creating a super mellow and simple vibe.

He was recently signed to Hot Charity Records and has his debut album Acousmatic Sorcery out on April 3rd.  Check him out, dude's about to blow.

Niki and the Dove - Mother Protect (Goldroom Remix)

Okay so this is lowkey old, but yeah it's lowkey so that's why Ima post it. It can be found under your cuts that I haven't slapped yet list. LA's Goldroom ripped this joint and made it into a house anthem. It's Friday. Go in. Shout to @reiderakadean for the plug.

Bear In Heaven – The Reflection Of You (CFCF Remix)

Montreal based CFCF's take on Bear in Heaven's "The Reflection Of You." Dance with me.

Sufjan Stevens - Futile Devices (Shigeto Remix)

Brooklyn based producer, Shigeto, gives us a smooth, soothing remix of Sufjan Steven's "Futile Devices."  Shigeto's sonic textures tastefully compliment Sufjan's melody, preserving the mesmerizing tranquility of the original.  Press play and achieve nirvana.

TiDUS- DOORS EP

TiDUS dropped this new DOORS EP and this shit is pretty next level.  This dude flows tight and his production is soundin space-age.  A quick look at his website, binnagod.com, reveals quite a bit about this psychedelic space influence and has got some interesting ideas floating around there, so check it out and keep an eye out for this cosmic rhyme spitter, cause he's too nice to go unnoticed.

U.T.R.B. – Pressure

Is this even dope?  Brand new signing to Push & Run Records (the same label housing wizards Ifan Dafydd and Pedestrian).  U.T.R.B. stands for Until The Ribbon Breaks – an experimental singer-songwriter from Cardiff.  Aye I been noticing other fools starting to say 'wizard'... make sure you tell em 2Nice started that shit.  I'm Chucky2Nice man... I'm that wizzard.

The Dream Feat. Casha – Kill The Lights

Doc might say some shit cuz this mainstream but he can fall back cuz this song dropped like a few hours ago and i been slappin it and thinkin bout that one time and he prolly is slappin it and havin that one time. So give into the bedroom banger. uhhh if you cant fuck wit it give it to your chick and prolly read Plug Gods less often cuz we'll murk you in the street if you said that openly to most of us. except spinner who pretty weak anyways and plugs hella old shit and everyone is jus too nice to tell him. we jus delete his shit.  Also if you think this shit is hella corny then you don't understand Terius and you prolly hella ignorant and should maybe do more ecstasy and get in your lane more often. ..."should i say it?... yea ima say it..." FYC
@PlugGods

NO CEREMONY/// – Heartbreaker

NO CEREMONY/// has been around... Trane wasn't fuckin with their simplistic steez, but I've always been into their mystique and minimal sound.  Enjoy the download civilian.

their old video:

Extrawelt - Swallow The Leader (99 Bricks Edit)

Title might be OD... but maybe it's perfect.  Swear I heard this in December at a bar in Seattle... Anyways it's floating around now like it's brand new so pop 2 and bite down to this.

Throwback Thursday Presents: Grisbi - Army Of Me

This is really a throwback thursday joint that's just an hour late.  It's a Bjork cover, but I'm fuckin with it especially because so many song singing females stole the percussion steez in this track which came out hella long ago.  uhhhh if you hella weak, jus show this track to your main. peace.

Lone - Crystal Caverns 1991

Ew breh, this shit is so dumb and putting me in a hella positive mood.  Clean ass title and Lone is getting better... Galaxy Garden drops May 7 on R&S... and if you missed it, peep his Boiler Room set after the jizza.

Throwback Thursday - OutKast - Hootie Hoo

Illest flow around. Shout to @DonBootsie

Throwback Thursday - Elton John - Benny & The Jets (Soul Train)

The first white person to perform Soul Train live. My man is a beast with the fit (pause). Soundin flawless out here.

Gorillaz - DoYaThing (Feat. James Murphy & Andre 3000)

New Gorillaz is cause for celebration....even with the corporate sponsorship and such (cue subliminal Converse advertisement).

Follow the link for a listen now and/or download it tomorrow

Neon Jung - Delirium Tremens (Nathan Fake Remix)

A remix from UK producer Nathan Fake.  Very ambient.  Even more so after the percussion drops out about six minutes in.  Close your eyes and have visions.

The Weeknd - Same Old Song (Dolor Remix)

Yes. Peep Dolor's soundcloud here.

BJ The Chicago Kid ft. Kendrick Lamar - The World is a Ghetto

The old school influenced homeboys collaborate on "The World is a Ghetto," which will be featured on BJ's Pineapple Now-Laters album out now via M.A.F.E. Music. Yeah, go ahead, light some more up.

French Montana ft. Charlie Rock, Diddy and Rick Ross - Shot Caller (Remix)”

Remix video just dropped for one of my favorite French Montana joints. Harry Fraud with the dope production. Diddy, Ross, and Charlie Rock all go in.

Kido Yoji - Call A Romance (Cosmonaut Grechko Remix)

The 20-year-old Russian producer Victor Klyuchnikov aka Cosmonaut Grechko has just released his remix to the Kido Yoji electronic disco cut "Call A Romance." The sun is out in Seattle so roll the windows down, light a couple up, and enjoy.

Scuba - Personality (Album Stream)

The boy Paul Rose aka Scuba has been in the game for some 5 years now, and is about to release his 3rd LP, titled Personality, February 27th. Scuba has remained an influential force in contemporary electronic music since the early stages of dubstep. The game, here, is so competitive that we very rarely see any one hit wonders. Instead, we are blessed with true artists such as Scuba, who withstand trends, and grow with the times.

The Whendays - PCKT (Video)

The Whendays "PCKT" from The Whendays on Vimeo.
Much respect is due to danilo for this original post.  The video for Untru Love II might be my favourite thing posted on this site in a long time.  While this new video for track 4 on the album does not eclipse the previous joint, it is assuredly worthy of a look.  This group consistently has an all around solid project, from visuals to sound.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Dot - Simple Simon

Hailing from Olympia, Washington, 20 year old Kate Ellwanger is an opera singer who also spins laid back but fast paced dreamy electronic music as Dot. Alpha Pup will release Dot's debut EP Calliope on February 28th. Simple Simon will be the last song on the album.

Rick Ross- High Definition (VIDEO)

What else is there to say? Rick Ross, females, cars, Pharrell, Wale and Timbaland.  Oh and its in black and white, so I guess its a little different from other rap videos..

sayknowledge!- 'Petunia'

So I came across these visuals for this yung Frisco native called sayknowledge!'s track "Petunia."  Dude has got a pretty solid flow and his producer Chris Keys is soundin pretty nice on this joint too.  sayknowledge! has a personal vendetta to change the Bay area rap game for good, stating on his myspace that "sayknowledge! is now pushing his own san franciscan groove giving a proper memorial to the death of bay areas hyphy."

We'll see if he can generate the steam to carry out his mission, but for now just roll one up and enjoy the track..

LIPS- Everything To Me (Bronze Whale Remix)

So this track has got about a hundred shitty dub-step renditions of it, because of the pleasantly soft electro vibe of LIPS, AKA Steph Brown's, original track.  However this version is the far and away best I've heard yet coming from Bronze Whale, a little-known producer that's super new to the internet game.  While obviously still showing a dubstep-influenced sound, he creates a piece that is far more chilled and nice on the ears, with melodic chords and an overall sound that strays far from bro-step.  His soundcloud boasts just three tracks and his facebook just 27 "Likes."  So get out there and support this dude, cause it seems he's got the musical repertoire to potentially make some noise in the industry.

Yasiin Bey - Niggas in Poorest

Mos Def continues to release new content under the name Yasiin Bey.  Today, in honor of the anniversary of Malcolm X's assassination, we get a rework of Watch the Throne's "Niggas in Paris."  The opposite of Jay and Ye's "luxury rap."

PANAMA- Good Winter [A Bon Iver Remix Album]

So this enigmatic cat PANAMA decided to go head and release this Good Winter tape yesterday and the listeners rejoiced.  This genre-shattering piece is beautifully composed and crosses so many different aspects of the musical spectrum that it is very easy to get lost in.  And although the overall feel of the record is somewhat like that of a rainy day or of reflection on a long lost love, its sincerity outweighs its sadness.

Naturally, the indie vibe of Bon Iver carries through with pleasant variations of electronic music filtered in and out, generally enhancing the heartfelt and moving mood of the indie-folk superstar. By turning to elements of ambient, garage, experimental and even some dub-step PANAMA is able to complement the musical ability of Bon Iver, while highlighting his own musical skill and ability.

The world's on a youthful wave of head-turning music and PANAMA seems like he's next up to receive his dues, so keep an eye and an ear out.

Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis, & Tyler the Creator - Rella (Video)

Ridiculous.

Pa Kongal - Algo Anda Mal

Wish I could tell you more about this one, but its all in spanish and I'm feelin' lazy. All I know is this is jamming, not quite Cumbia but not quite anything else. Disfruta.

Shlohmo- Rained the Whole Time (Nicolas Jaar Remix)

In light of the release of Shlohmo's Vacation Remixes on the 28th of this month, Friends of Friends dropped Nicolas Jaar's take on 'Rained the Whole Time' earlier today.  Shlohmo's obviously killing the down-tempo/ experimenta game right now, but on this version Nicolas Jaar stays true to form creating a really moody track full of complexity and layered into a beautiful little composition.

If you're unfamiliar with Nicolas Jaar, you got some homework to do, the guy had my personal favorite album of 2011 and is gonna continue to make noise, so recognize game real quick, lest you get embarrassed.  This bonus cut is my favorite track off that album, and is my gift to you in light of the holiday.

Santigold – Disparate Youth

Santigold will be releasing the follow-up to 2008′s Santogold (this was before she changed her name to Santigold) sometime this year, titled Master Of My Make-Believe.

Seun Kuti - "The Good Leaf" (Spoek Mathambo Remix)

Seun Kuti, "The Good Leaf" (Spoek Mathambo Remix) by The FADER

original:

I'm having trouble deciding which is better between the two. They both pop, and they both make you move. Needless to say, Seun is on the right path and a worthy standard bearer of the Kuti name/brand.

Homeboy Sandman - The Miracle

Born Angel Del Villar and hailing from Queens, NY, Homeboy Sandman is an Ivy League undergraduate who can flow with the best of them. Old school influenced and a straight lyrical monster, he takes on all subjects to rap about, using intricate rhyme schemes and over your head punchlines consistently. His delivery is clean and effortless on the 6 track EP Subject: Matter which was recently released via Madlib and Dâm-Funk. Here is Sandman going in on "The Miracle."

Before Dark - Baby (Brenmar Remix)

Chicago born and New York based producer Brenmar takes his RnB influenced style and absolutely murders Before Dark's 1999 jam "Baby." Slap it, honestly. This shit is wet.

Tourist - Jupiter

The most recent cut from the Brighton based producer off Placid Acid out March 12th via Make Mine.

Chromatics - Lady (Video)

Newest joint off the album Kill for Love which is supposed to be released here soon in these upcoming weeks. Once again, Italian filmmaker Alberto Rossini holds the directorial duties. Late night electro shit.

B-Ju - Seduction

I came across this when it came out in late January and I'm kicking myself for not paying more attention back then.  Anyway, here is track four of the young Hamburg producer's Prozac People.

I've posted some of his remixes that I particularly like after the jump. The remixes come from his output with record label Squelch & Clap.

Conflict - Dororo Beats (Himuro Yoshiteru Remix)

 -
Off the Japanese Beat maker's new project Yellow Beat.  I've included some of my other favourites after the jump.

POLIÇA - Amongster (Videos)

The nature scenes - suggestive themselves - quickly transition to slightly more sensual sexual content in this new video from Polica's Give You The Ghost.
Hit the jump for the video for the first single.

SBTRKT - Hold On (Sisi BakBak Remix)

Next Tuesday, SBTRKT is set to drop a single for the track, "Hold On," off of his 2011 self-titled album. The single will feature this remix by Sisi BakBak alongside SBTRKT's original.  Some people are pretty convinced Sisi Bakbak is Radiohead frontman, Thom Yorke, but this hasn't been confirmed.  Definitely sounds like his style.

Running - Jessie Ware (Disclosure Remix)

The UK duo released this track earlier today infusing Jessie Ware's original with a jolt of UK bass.  We featured the A side of their single Tenderly/Flow back in early December.

Nneka - Shining Star (Joe Goddard Remix)

Joe Goddard of Hot Chip with a new remix of the Nigerian-German singer, Nenka's Shining Star.  Clocking in at 9 minutes it is quite long but equally infectious.  Check our archives for more of his work posted  a while back.

Atlas- This Is (feat. Emmo)

Hailing from nothern England, Atlas is a post-dubstep duo that has been on my radar recently with their bleaky and hauntingly beautiful sound.  'This Is'  features Emmo and her vocals over the deep, minimalistic vibe makes for a real dope track that's been on repeat for weeks now.  Listen and you'll understand why.

Jay-Z & Kanye West - Niggas in Paris (Yelram Selectah REFIX! Masterizada)

A touch of Tijuana for the Gods today:

Original:

Lushlife - Big Sur

Perspective:
She's a Buddhist, I'm a Cubist (ft. Cities Aviv)

Rioux - Unison Ft. Björk

Rioux is a Brooklyn based producer whose music manifests a sense of grace and cultivated beauty in its minimalism. His latest release, "Unison" (free download), is three minutes and eleven seconds of aerated, percussive symmetry.  His manipulation of Björk's voice on the track is incredibly clean.  If this leaves you wanting more, check out his 2011 audiovisual album here.

Gang Colours – Botley in Bloom

Off Gang Colours' proper full-length debut, The Keychain Collection, set to drop at the end of the month on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Records.  We had the first single for Fancy Restaurant plugged a while back with mention of an Ifan Dafydd rework.  Well since that time that rework has come to light. Check after the new joint for the rework.

A description of this track that I thought encapsulated it well:
"possess that innate kind of violence, the simmering resentment of that fabled nightbus home. "

Yalls - Gave Away & Broke

Dan Casey, aka Yalls, hailing from the East Bay, delivers this hodgepodge funk pop electronic track.  Look out for his forthcoming 7" set to be released on Gold Robot

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Tapes & Money

Oxford based electronic producer Orlando Higginbottom aka TEED will release his next single "Tapes & Money" via Polydor April 2nd. You can't help but say fresh at least 3 times when describing dude's sound. Synth City.

Usher - Climax (Prod. By Diplo)

Okay Ush. "Climax," a smooth collaboration with producer Diplo, is the new single off an upcoming Usher Raymond album. Just remember it was plugged here before you start hearing this joint on the radio. Wetter. Word.

JJ DOOM - Banished

Looks like DOOM & Jneiro Jarel have collaborated on more than just the track "Rhymin' Slang" for the Lex Records 10th anniversary compilation, Complex.  Lex announced earlier that a full JJ Doom album entitled Keys to the Kuffs is set to drop in May. "Banished" is the first track to be released from the forthcoming project.  The production on the track is definitely a bit rough.  DOOM's flow is a little sloppy in a couple spots and there are some noticeable problems with the mix, but overall the track is really dope.

Vice Guide to Liberia

If you ever wanted to feel better about your first world life, watch this. Keep complaining about slow internet on ur iphones.

I Want To Know What Love Is - PARTY TRASH

I can't really tell if this is dope or hilarious or maybe in need of a remix... this shit is super thick... but if nothing else the cover art is wetter than a newborn.  Track is from the Mariah Carey Tribute by Party Trash.

Hudson Mohawke’s Valentines Slowjams Chapter V

LuckyMe Presents...

Minnesota

Minnesota is a USCS grad from Santa Clara that I been fuckin wit for a while.  He's dubsteppy, glitchy and evidently wears pink bracelets to match his lil hipster glasses.
Here's an interesting rendition... of Wiz's best song of the year.

Downloads on each of the tracks so say "yea" like Schoolboy Q.

Previously: Minnesota - Ancient Machines

Enjoyed – PAWS (Vanilla Remix) °

The self-proclaimed “joystep” sound is warped into a minimal, post-Dilla loop.
The original might even be cleaner though:

Enjoyed is on the same label as  NZCA/LINES... Loaf Recordings.

Burial - Loner (Unofficial Video)

Burial - Loner from Miguel Bidarra on Vimeo.

A few days ago, the gods plugged a free stream of Burial's new Kindred EP.  Directors Miguel Bidarra and Inês Mendez just released a video for 'Loner,' which in my opinion, is the strongest of the three tracks on the EP.  If you fuck with visualizers, you will like the video.  It's basically six and a half minutes of blurry lights moving to Burial's beat.  The video definitely speaks to the name 'Loner.'  Although it's probably just a coincidence that it dropped on Valentines day, there is no doubt that some people are going to be feeling particularly lonely today.  If you find yourself feeling like a loner late tonight, turn the lights off, put this video on, and space out - Burial is right there with you.

This shit is so fuckin hammer.  I'd never seen the video... but it's legendarily clean. RIP

Hoodcats - Streed Fung

Comprised of shortcircles...and future-poppin' duo James & Evander, the Oakland trio have put together three songs of sample-based future-music that owe as much to stoney instrumental hip-hop as they do to bass-minded footwork and house. All now living under one roof in the outskirts of West Oakland, the producers' current environment (which is highlighted by the never-ceasing presence of street felines, a.k.a. hood cats) is certainly reflected here, but there's also a touch of playfulness to be heard with generous samples of Mark Morrison's "Return of the Mac" and even Christina Aguilera's "Genie In a Bottle" appearing amongst the glistening synths and frantic drum programming.

Ifan Dafydd - Treehouse (Video)

The Treehouse EP is out now.

Labyrinth Ear - Amber (Video)

The UK duo's 4 track Apparitions EP recently dropped and here is the official video for the cut Amber. Directed by Alex Southam.

Bonobo - Eyesdown (Machinedrum Remix)

Visually stunning video for Machinedrum's remix of Bonobo's "Eyesdown." This track is set to appear alongside remixes by Lapalux, Floating Points, and several others on Black Sands Remixed, a compilation of remixed tracks from Bonobo's Black Sands. Album drops February 21. Incredible animation by Anthony Schepperd.

Chairlift Ft. Kool A.D. - Party (Beyonce cover)

Kool A.D. (of Das Racist) and Chairlift (of Apple commercial fame) collaborate on a cover of Beyonce's "Party."  The song starts about 1:15 into the video if you want to skip the intro.

Bullwack - The Great Batsy

To fully appreciate songs like this you need to be listening very loudly with bass, or at least with a decent pair of headphones. Otherwise, you miss the range and spectrum of the sound in this heavy dubstep from Bullwack.
and also this.

Ras G & Open Mike Eagle - Warhorn

Los Angeles based artists Ras G and Open Mike Eagle just released this track in an effort to raise enough money to fund a trip to Uganda where they plan to lead a youth hip-hop program. More information about the project here.

Willis Earl Beal - Take Me Away

This is not a new story by any means.  I just wasn't that taken by Evening Kiss enough to post it.  For those that don't know about Willis Earl Beal, he has quite the fascinating story.  To put it succinctly, he'd leave fliers like the one pictured above around town with his phone number and the tagline: "Call me and I will sing you a song."  I can only imagine the interesting experience (I say interesting because I am not wholly sure whether it would be surreal, tragic, awkward, etc.) of sitting alone in my room listening to Willis on the other end sing.  Here is the new single from his début album on XL recordings as well as an excerpt from an interview I found intriguing.

What are your plans for music? I read that other artists like James Blake and Mos Def are fans of your music. Are you aware of that?
Yeah, James Blake has expressed interest in working together, and then we were thinking maybe I should do something with Jamie xx. But so far, I’ve always worked alone. I guess now that I’m getting noticed, that might have to change. I just hope that transition is seamless, you know what I mean? But I do want to add some new sounds to my music.

Power Animal - Exorcism (Spirituals Remix)

Philadelphia's Power Animal premièred the title track from their forthcoming LP  (set to be released Feb 21) last week which I've included after the jump.  Here we have a remix of this title track which takes the hazy original and channels it into a more electric vein.  I've included some details on the release of the LP below.
The EP is being released on Hampson’s charitable label, Human Kindness Overflowing, and money from each purchase of the cassette – as well as each download of the album on Bandcamp – goes to Philabundance, and providing meals to those in need.

Tincture - You'll Learn

Australia's Luke Dalton performs under the name Tincture.  Here is a sample of some of his work as he refixes Usher's Burn.

Nosaj Thing - Nightcrawler

One of the tracks off the We Are The Works In Progress compilation album that dropped earlier today.  All proceeds from the album support the continued recovery of post-tsunami Japan.  Deerhunter, Pantha du Prince, and Four Tet are among the other artists featured on the album.  Take a listen to Four Tet's "Moma," and if you're feeling philanthropic, snag the whole album.

Shlohmo - wen uuu (Teebs Remix)

TOKiMONSTA - Darkest (Dim) [ft. Gavin Turek]

Tokimonsta may be some of the most universally liked music.  This song slaps and is real easy on the ears. The video is crackin. Track featured on TOKiMONSTA's "Creature Dreams" EP on BRAINFEEDER.  (Is it safe to call Brainfeeder a music monopoly yet?) Video Directed by Doug Chang.  Gavin Turek is sexy too.

Lana Del Rey - Video Games (Live on David Letterman)

In the wake of a controversial SNL performance that some labeled the worst in Saturday Night Live history... Lana Del Rey took another shot at the live thing on Letterman.  Make your own opinion, but if you ask me... she gets off.  Girls like Lana scare me cuz I feel like I'd sell all my possessions and move anywhere with her at anytime.  She'd have endless power over me and I would be coo wit it. Dangerous.

Clark - Com Touch

"Com Touch" is the first track published from Clark's forthcoming album Iradelphic.  Clark has been quiet since he put out Totems Flare in 2009, so hopefully he'll release more tracks before the album drops in April on Warp.  Submit your email to download the song for free.

Miro Belle - Matching Saris

Whole album is free:

JJ DOOM - Rhymin' Slang (Dave Sitek Remix)

DOOM collaborated with producer Jneiro Jarel to give us "Rhymin' Slang," which was released as a part of the Complex compilation put out by London's Lex Records in honor of their tenth anniversary. Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio did the remix, but DOOM's flow is definitely the highlight of the track.  So clean.  Complex also features "Retarded Fren," a collaboration between DOOM and Radhiohead's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood.

Daniel Rossen - Silent Song

Two weeks after the release of "Saint Nothing," "Silent Song" emerges as the second song from Daniel Rossen's Silent Hour/Golden Mile.  Rossen is a member of both Grizzly Bear and Department of Eagles, but will make his solo debut in March when the EP is released on Warp.  The eeriness and melancholy of "Saint Nothing" are absent in this track, which gives off more of a George Harrison sort of vibe.

Lapalux - When You're Gone EP

Brainfeeder's first UK signing drops his debut EP with them today and as anticipated, it's gas.  It gets crazier the deeper one delves. Come cruise wit Jaboi.  Unfortunately the stream below will only give you the first minute of each song.  But peep the two full ones one can access for free after the jump. and shh! (here's the DL)

Russ Chimes - Expressway Mix Part 4

Expressway Mix Pt. 4 by Russ Chimes

My main man Russ Chimes is a beast. Super slept on. The Midnight Club will forever be some of the cleanest and stylish shit in all of the land. Like that would be the first thing you watch and listen to in Pluganomics 101. 4th installment of his Expressway Series dropped recently. Definitely goes hammer time.

Big K.R.I.T. - Boobie Miles

The first joint released off the Mississippi bred rapper's new mixtape 4Eva N a Day which he will be dropping February 20th. Word. Light Up.

The Drum - Night Driving

Chicago duo's take on R&B from outer space. Off their new EP, Heavy Liquid which just saw a release on Audraglint. "Night Driving" was my favorite track. Mob to this, freeway life, windows down boy.

Throwback Thursday Presents: Charles Hamilton

It's unforgivable that I've never plugged Charles Hamilton on Plug Gods.  Arguably the best, most prolific mixtape rapper... well... ever.  Now that's a real fuckin bold statement... but I know a lot of very informed hip-hop heads that have made that argument and defended themselves eloquently.  I'll list his project list (mostly consisting of stuff between 2008 and 2011) after the jizza.  Now it would be lightweight ridiculous to turn you onto a specific project for Charles.  The producer/rapper has gotten his feet wet in a variety of ways.  But tabling that absurdity, I'll recommend my personal favorite: Well Isn't This Awkward.  Here are two tracks I'm especially with off the project... but please check out some more after the jump and on your own. Charles is a legend in his own right and has an incredible story (he was homeless, got socked on camera by his girl, mother was a severe drug addict, was signed by Interscope but then fucked over by them, he's obsessed with pink and people thought he was gay for a minute)... but I'll spare you more text. Press play civilian.

Lapalux - Pulse Radio Mix
