Just Friends - Don't Tell Me

Nicolas Jaar and Sasha Spielberg join together under the Just Friends moniker in the week 31 release from Nicolas Jaar subscription-based music venture: Other People. Other People will release the collaborative project Don't Tell Me on April 19th 2014.

ฬเןl - down'

ฬเןl is a UK producer whose beats sound filtered through gritty vinyl only to be brought back to digital.  His sound is repetitive yet fleeting, with most of his songs lasting less than 2 minutes.  His vintage feel evokes a mid 90s memory of the exterior golden age of hip hop.  His soundcloud is deep as fuck and very laney.

Holly Herndon - Chorus (Happa Mix)

AyGeeTee - Eternity's Conceit

Endless rolling modern dance music that takes elements of shoegaze bliss out plus the build n collapse of ecstatic jazz.
Walking FM basslines anchor the tracks in a lush haze like the melting smile of a pleasantly wrecked good friend.
Drums are panned and tweaked till the iiird eye opens and the room starts to slowly rotate.
The two tracks on this album are Ay Gee Tee's longest and most emotional works yet and Reckno is super proud to be able to present them to the world.

Neneh Cherry feat. Robyn - "Out Of The Black"

Arca and Jesse Kanda - TRAUMA Scene 1

The video features three babies whose bodies have an odd type of plasticity performing a choreographed dance to 'Knot,' the first track from Arca's &&&&& mixtape from last year. The video is the first scene from a larger collaborative film between Jesse Kanda and Arca entitled "TRAUMA," which is describe on Youtube as an "ongoing project [...] spanning through Arca's existing and future works" that debuted at MoMA PS1.

Magical Mistakes - Laid Out

Originally from California and now based in Osaka, Japan, Magical Mistakes will become the latest beat constructor to join King Deluxe's ever-growing artist roster when hisDecompose / Reassemble EP drops in the coming months.

Hercules & Love Affair - Raid

I started slapping Hercules and Love Affair in 2008.  At the time, it was weird... The girlies danced when I slapped it and I thought it was an innovative sound, so it stayed in circulation.  As my musical interests broadened, their sound became a mainstay influence, paving the way for my interest in future disco/house.  They are giants in my world. The band's central figure, Andrew Butler, began his musical career at 15, DJing in a Denver leather bar run by a hostess called Chocolate Thunder Pussy. :)

This is off Hercules & Love Affair’s new album ‘The Feast Of The Broken Heart’ (dropping May 26th / pre-order here: georiot.co/3mv7).  This also dropped 11 days back too:

Felicita - Le Merle Noir (Glasgow 2014)

Once again demonstrating a bewildering, constantly shifting sonic sensibility Dominic Dvorak aka FELICITA’s compacted c&p selections continue his production of sound works that consistently subordinate expectation. In a lineage of work for Lucky PDF, DiS Magazine and his own club projects and releases, La Merle Noir (Glasgow 2014) more than any of the others has very few constants or parameters. The only recurring element is an abstraction of a piano line by 20th century French composer Olivier Messiaen that at one point is interjected by a My Little Pony remix. It’s glitchy and confounding, collapsing all notions of taste in some kind of post-consumerist euphoria.
Tracklist:
Olivier Messiaen – Le Merle Noir
Madison Beer – Melodies (Wirekid Edit)
بابا اوبح – المجموعة
Olivier Messiaen – Le Merle Noir
helping twilight win the crown

Evian Christ - Waterfall

An atonement post, yet the new Evian Christ cannot go un-remarked upon.  'Waterfall' takes the industrial undertones and negative space of Kings and Them and re-contextualizes them in a more caustic and pointed release.  I imagine this won't get the gushing love from Christ's new Kanye fans, but this pushes his sound into more developed territories where more is at stake.

Penny - Pen#1

The debut video from Penny, the new collaborative project between Asher Levitas and Michael Crowe, is both immediately alienating and engrossing. An unreal color palette is applied to a collage of found footage that is an embodiment of instability as the boundary between one piece of footage and another is constantly challenged.  Shirking linear progression, the video holds all of its components together at once, presenting the sonic and visual experience as immediate and multi-layered.

Resident Advisor has penned a nice introduction to the project at large:
Levitas is a member of Old Apparatus, a shadowy UK collective known for their darkly-tinted electronic music for Deep Medi and more recently, their own Sullen Tone label. He also worked with vocalist Linn Carin Dirdal last year on another project called Saa, which released an EP on Left Blank. Crowe, meanwhile, is a writer famous for his Mysterious Letters project, where he and Lenka Clayton have set out to write letters to "everyone in the world."
Penny is each artist's latest endeavour, and the press release describes it as "spectral R&B, mutant techno, sombre acid house and technicolor industrial." The self-titled EP also marks the launch for the duo's new label, Overshare Records, which will release a new Saa record later this year, plus audiobooks, cassettes and other goodies.

Bok Bok - Melba's Call (featuring Kelela)

Glitter and staccato: Bok Bok engrafts the heavenly labials of Kelela onto undercurrents of grime.

FKA Twigs & inc. – “FKA x inc.” (directed by Nick Walker and FKA twigs)

Heralding a collaborative project, the name-denying FKA Twigs joins inc. for a stunning song and video.

patten - Winter strobing (directed by Jane Eastlight)

patten's Warp-LP, 'ESTOILE NAIANT', was released last week (after an early leak and stream on his website).  In the video for 'Winter strobing', a camera lingers behind a woman making her way through Canary Wharf (one of London's glittering financial districts replete with futurist monoliths and second only to New York in international financial services exportation).  The video finds concurrence with patten's recent Xlr8r interview in which he draws particular attention to how music functions in diverse contexts and spatial dimensions:
"In the project, there's a fascination with objects that are being made and how they might create the circumstances by which one could be creative in their interfacing with those images, those sounds, those kind of real-time experiences with a live performance. What could a piece of music do when someone is walking along the street with it directly in their ears? What could it do when it's pounding on their chest in a dark space? How can one form move between these different spaces? What characteristics could it accrue as it moves from headphones into a club space, into a seated theatre, into a research paper, into text, into conversation, into a garment, into a color or a combination of two colors, into a texture, into a single word or combination of words, into a spatial dynamic... It's open, and I think that's really important."

Purple - The Club (Gangways Comedown)

Gangways go so hard. On wedidit.

Spooky Black - Without U (Prod. Greaf)

Song is a banger. Video got me dyin too.

Directed by GABE BRODERICK.  This is the project... jus dropped... it's dope:
