GESAFFELSTEIN - HATE OR GLORY (GESAFFELSTEIN REMIX)

One of the best shows I saw this year was at the Fonda in Los Angeles and it was Gesaffelstein in all his sick french smokey glory.  Here is his new remix of his hit.  If you haven't seen the video for the original... well then I'm quite sorry for you. It follows:

The Child of Lov - Give Me (Two Inch Punch Remix)

The videos that The Child of Lov puts out are so dope. The remixes that Two Inch Punch does are so dope. Then it's like both are super dope. Like what?

FALCONS - Remixxes Vol. 2

So after cats like Bird Peterson had been doing the whole "trap" thing for a minute it caught on fire maybe last year? 6 months ago? Damn, who knows, internet time is different than real time. But now we have everyone and their pet dog making trap remixes of Swedish House Mafia and Flo Rida songs. A few people get it right (LOUDPVCK and M|O|D come to mind) and LA/Oakland/Canadian group Falcons have seemed to join that group for me. Listen to their Remixxes Vol. 2 above where Missy, Dro, Crime Mob, and Project Pat all get proper edits.

LIPS- Everything To Me (Bronze Whale Remix)

So this track has got about a hundred shitty dub-step renditions of it, because of the pleasantly soft electro vibe of LIPS, AKA Steph Brown's, original track.  However this version is the far and away best I've heard yet coming from Bronze Whale, a little-known producer that's super new to the internet game.  While obviously still showing a dubstep-influenced sound, he creates a piece that is far more chilled and nice on the ears, with melodic chords and an overall sound that strays far from bro-step.  His soundcloud boasts just three tracks and his facebook just 27 "Likes."  So get out there and support this dude, cause it seems he's got the musical repertoire to potentially make some noise in the industry.

SHOES - Afta Lafta (Comez Tearz) [After Laughter by Wendy Rene rmx]

SHOES is really dope edit team. Here they sample from the Wu Tang remix and not the original by Wendy Rene... you can hear the drums and they sample it at the beginning... the end gets real weird (they bleed into some Amon Tobin) with it which is usually a good thing. Just listen civilian.

Four Tet

In addition to his salacious originals and remixes, the guy is one of the best DJs i've had the privilege of seeing. It was a 6+ hour set at his old residence, Plastic People in London. I caught it in bits and pieces (for my ears' and health's sake), but there was never a dull moment, and never a feeling of repetition. Control-ler.
