Gem Club
The songs of Gem Club‘s six-song 2010 EP Acid and Everything used piano, cello and vocals, but more than that they used space... taking a similar route as James Blake on his debut album. Christopher Barnes and Kristen Drymala spread their elements across the stereo field, allowing their solemn piano chords and the cello’s plaintive counterpinings to echo across some limitless space. As a result, Acid and Everything‘s songs come off like a melancholy dream. Indie label Hardly Art took notice, and late last month they signed Gem Club, who have now added vocalist Leva Berberian. On September 27, the trio will be releasing their debut full-length Breakers.
In advance of that, the group released the title track on their Bandcamp page.

Paul Bloom: The origins of pleasure
Why do we like an original painting better than a forgery? Psychologist Paul Bloom argues that human beings are essentialists -- that our beliefs about the history of an object change how we experience it, not simply as an illusion, but as a deep feature of what pleasure (and pain) is.

Cloud Control
Meditation Song #2 (Why, Oh Why) by Cloud Control by infectiousmusicuk
Ghost Story by Cloud Control by infectiousmusicuk
They're from Australia. I've liked everything I've heard by them so far. From the rural Blue Mountains region outside of Sydney, Cloud Control offer a pastoral variation on the modern psychedelic rock sound.

Sampha
After listening through the five features Sampha has on SBTRKT's latest album, I had to check out the rest of this guy's shit. His flow is effortlessly refreshing on each and every feature. The track above was produced by him. The video was directed by Marcus Soderlund, whose worked with jj, Miike Snow, and The XX, among other names.

Throwback Thursday Presents: Lord Finesse
In later years, Mac Miller made his debut appearance over this beat with the song 'Kool-aid and Frozen Pizza'. All Lord Finesse fans believed Hip Hop had died.
Throwback Thursday Presents: The Last Emperor - Secret Wars Pt. 1 & 2
He's from Philly and Dr. Dre used to call him his "protege". He was also a guest MC for the Gorillaz and would spit Del Tha Funkee Homosapien's rhymes on tour for him. Superheroes are given their time to shine on the Secret Wars series.
Throwback Thursday Presents: Lil Zane - Ways Of The World
This has always been my shit. Hella people say he stole Pac's flow... and he did lightweight but he's so tight to me.
