The Great Gatsby (Film) Feat. Leonardo DiCaprio, Dir. by Baz Luhrmann

Baz Luhrmann director of Strictly Ballroom and Romeo + Juliet is directing the film adaptation of the American classic, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. If the prospect of a third attempt at successfully remaking the book into a film weren't intriguing enough, the star-studded cast will be led by Leonardo DiCaprio who will play Gatsby. Tobey Maguire will play Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan (DrivePride & Prejudice, An Education) will play Daisy, Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom) will play Tom and Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers) will play Myrtle WIlson. Luhrman's most recent film Australia was seriously wack and struggled to find a consistent mood the entire film. Although some of the picturesque shots were stunning. The expectations couldn't be higher for this project, especially considering what a piece of shit the 1974 version starring Robert Redford was. The film will be in 3D... yet I cannot think of a single scene that it is necessary for in the entire novel. I expect it is a studio decision that will allow them to charge an extra 3 or 4 dollars in theaters.  Let's hope for the best.
